12 Reminders That You Matter

Do you ever struggle with feeling inferior, or even worthless? Are you miserable because you aren’t as “accomplished” as everyone else seems to be?

That is not how God wants you to feel. He didn’t create everyone to be a genius, a movie star, or even above “average” (whatever that means)–but He does create everyone uniquely to fill a niche of His choosing. As the old quip goes, “God don’t make no junk!”

And He says:

“The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more … than other peoples … But it was because the LORD loved you” (Deuteronomy 7:7-8).

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified … for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

“He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. … for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust” (Psalm 103:10,14).

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1b).

“This is what the LORD says: ‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness” (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'” (Jeremiah 29:11).

“The LORD your God … will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).

“‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6b).

“God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:17).

“When we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will one die [even] for a righteous person. …But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:6-8).

“He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ … when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:4-5).

God doesn’t love you because you are talented, or successful, or even “good.” He loves you because you are His–and nothing can change that.
