His Glorious Light

SUMMER SPECIAL! Posts from June through August feature selected poems from my e-book Be Still: Christian Poems of Peace for Stressed-Out Hearts.

Outshining the galaxies brimming with stars,
Outshining the fire that consumes and that chars,
Outshining the sun with its glare blinding-bright,
Outshining all else is God’s glorious light.

Though vast is the universe, in our Lord’s hand
It all is as small as a spoonful of sand.
The Maker of galaxies, daytime, and night
Reigns far above all in His glorious light.

You people of earth, you who worry and fret
For wealth still ungained and for goals still unmet,
If you would but glance at your Lord in His might,
All fear would be lost in His glorious light.

Turn now from your strivings, and open your eyes:
Your Father is beckoning, loving and wise;
The God of Creation, Who does only right,
Is longing to bring you His glorious light.

So sit in His presence, and gaze on His face;
Come not to petition, but rest in His grace;
For He, not your troubles, should fill all your sight:
Be blind to all else in His glorious light.

Be Still

    Beautiful poem, Kathy. Hope you enjoyed The 4th! We had a great visit in Colorado….sadly I fell at DFW airport and fractured my pelvis! Trying to get home today…appreciate your prayers. Peace, Jo
