Let Go of the Clutter

SUMMER SPECIAL! Posts from June through August feature selected poems from my e-book Be Still: Christian Poems of Peace for Stressed-Out Hearts.

Your life is drowning in duty;
Your datebook lacks a free hour;
Your time is stretched to the limit;
Your “musts” all over you tower.
God bids us enter His presence,
To let our other tasks wait:
Let go, let go of the clutter;
Our Master never is late.

Your life is full of possessions;
Your bills are piling on top;
You’ve caught the habit of hoarding,
And wants seem never to stop.
God bids us turn from our riches,
To end all semblance of greed:
Let go, let go of the clutter;
Our Lord gives all that we need.

We’ve time for all He assigns us,
If we give heed to His will.
If we spend all in His service,
Each need of ours He will fill.
His wisdom past understanding,
His mercy ever is true.
Let go, let go of the clutter:
Your Lord is waiting for you!

Be Still
